The True Power of Awareness
What brings us together is our pursuit of the truth and what is real. We started out with just a feeling. A feeling that things were not right, a feeling that there must be more to the world. Some of us have heard the truth about the Federal Reserve Bank, the truth about America’s less than savory foreign policies, and the who is truly controlling events in the home of the brave and had our eyes opened to a fraction of the truth. This sets us all on a journey, a quest to find out the secrets that have been hidden from us by the elite. We delve into this plethora of YouTube videos and Google documentaries that are supposed to empower us with the knowledge to beat those who would take our freedom and either destroy or fix the broken system.
But what do we do once we “know”? When we learn the evils of the fractional reserve banking system. Do we boycott the banks now? We learn about the power corporations have and their ruthless pursuit of profit maximization. Do we now boycott corporations?
What is the true power of awareness? Why do we watch these videos, read these books, listen to these speakers? What you must realize is that we do live in a corporatocracy. This means that the power corporations have over us is part of the world we live in today. How do we take a stand against the very fiber of not only this nation but the world at large?
Activism is not for everybody. It is for very sober minded individuals who understand the power they have as an person and see the small windows of opportunity that an individual has to defeat a great enemy. If I see a news report heralding Nike’s terrible business practices and sweatshop labor, what do I do? Do I boycott Nike to take a stand for the exploited, disenfranchised workers in Mexico and Taiwan? What have I really done if I do so? My problem is not with Nike. My problem is with industry. It is industry that creates the concepts of cutting costs, outsourcing and exploitative wages. So how does one defeat industry?
I watched a film called Earthlings recently, which shows the evils of the meat industry and other industries that treat animals terribly. Naturally this sparked an idea in my soul to become a vegetarian. Not because animals should not die, but because I did not want to support an industry that had such blatant disregard and disrespect for life. As I pondered my newfound diet choice I wondered, ‘what happens when I see the evils of the soy industry, or the vegetable industry. What happens when I find the evil truth behind that? Then what will I eat?’ I realized that my vegetarianism was purely reactionary and I had lost sight of the bigger picture.
The world needs activists, not reactivists. We need to be clear headed if we are to defeat enemies as big as industry, corporations and materialism. Ask yourselves what real difference you will make by boycotting Bank of America, Wachovia and Citigroup. Ask yourselves how you really plan to bring your plans to fruition. Those who would subjugate you want you to react to their negativity. It makes you easier to control. Be a critical thinker. Learn to act instead of reacting.
Stay safe.
Stay aware.
Stay tuned.
